Fire Protection Valves and Valves EAC Fire Protection Certification
Regulatory Basis
The ‘Technical Regulation on Fire Safety of the Eurasian Economic Union’ (TR EAEU 043/2017) was adopted by the Eurasian Economic Commission on 29 June 2017. This regulation aims to harmonise the rules on fire safety among the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan), ensuring that products sold within the Union comply with unified fire safety standards. Fire valves and valves, as products closely related to fire safety, must undergo EAC fire safety certification in accordance with this regulation to demonstrate compliance with fire safety requirements, thereby enabling their legal circulation in the Eurasian Economic Union market.

Scope of Application
This regulation applies to all types of fire valves and valves, including but not limited to shut-off valves, check valves, safety valves, etc., used in fire water systems, fire gas extinguishing systems, and other applications. These valves must function normally during a fire to control fluid flow, prevent the spread of fire, and ensure the effective operation of the fire protection system.  

Certification Process  
Submit Application  
The manufacturer or its authorised representative submits a certification application to an EAC-recognised certification body, along with relevant product information such as product specifications, technical parameters, design drawings, and user manuals.

Document Review  
The certification body conducts a detailed review of the submitted documents to verify their completeness and accuracy, and assess whether the product complies with the basic requirements of TR EAEU 043/2017. For example, the review may assess whether the product materials have fire-resistant properties and whether the valve seals meet fire safety requirements.

Sample Testing
If the document review is approved, the certification body will require the manufacturer to provide samples for testing. Test items typically include fire resistance limit tests, fire-resistant performance tests, sealing tests, and operational reliability tests. For example, fire resistance limit tests simulate fire scenarios to determine whether the valve can maintain normal operation within a specified timeframe; sealing tests verify whether the valve can effectively prevent fluid leakage when closed.

Factory Inspection
For certain critical fire safety valves and valve products, the certification body may conduct on-site inspections of the manufacturer's production facilities. Inspection items include production processes, quality management systems, and personnel qualifications to ensure that products consistently comply with regulatory requirements during mass production. For example, inspections may verify whether procurement of raw materials, process control during manufacturing, and final product inspection are conducted in accordance with established standards.

Certificate Issuance
If both sample testing and factory inspections are passed, the certification body will issue an EAC fire safety certification certificate. The certificate will specify the product name, model, scope of application, and validity period of the certification. After obtaining the certificate, the product may be affixed with the EAC mark and sold in the Eurasian Economic Union market.

Certification Validity Period and Supervision
Validity Period
EAC fire safety certification certificates typically have a validity period, generally ranging from 3 to 5 years. The specific validity period varies depending on the certification body and product type.

Supervision  
During the validity period of the certificate, the certification body may conduct unscheduled supervisory inspections, including market sampling and factory re-inspections. If the product is found to be non-compliant with regulatory requirements, the certification body has the right to suspend or revoke the certification certificate.

Obtaining EAC fire safety certification is a prerequisite for fire safety valves and valves to enter the Eurasian Economic Union market. Without this certification, products cannot be legally sold, which helps break down trade barriers and promote international trade in fire safety products.
